Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Wednesday in Saint Petersburg met the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Boris Batura.

 The meeting was held in the framework of V. Lytvyn participation in Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Countries-Participants.

 The Parties discussed the issues of the bilateral relations and efforts coordination regarding the participation in interparliamentary associations. "It is extremely important we should have common position regarding these issues", V. Lytvyn emphasised.

 The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared that "a good sign of our cooperation development would be final solution of frontier issue between Ukraine and Belarus." He is convinced that it would facilitate the development of economic and cultural connections between Ukraine and Belarus. The Ukrainian part also expects positive scrutiny in the Belarus Parliament certain number of inter-state documents.

 During the meeting it was announced that one more positive step for the further development of bilateral cooperation would be meeting on the highest level. According to V. Lytvyn the typical feature of our relations became "mutual assistance and there are no attempts to use a partner for own profit."

 The Parties emphasised the positive movement in the trade sphere: goods circulation increased for 25% form the beginning of the current year.

 Ukraine and Belarus expressed for the common interest in the development of the agrarian sphere of economy.

 B. Batura expressed thankfulness to the Ukrainian Part for the assistance in the issue on participation in Eastern Partnership program.

 As it was briefed before, Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stays Russian Federation on 6-8 April (Saint Petersburg City) and takes part in 34th Plenary Meeting of Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Countries-Participants.
